It’s no secret that Wes Anderson‘s films involve daring feats of personal victory and amusing one-liners, entwined with clever set pieces and a top-notch cast, yes, all of those things. This is our first look at Anderson’s 9th feature Isle of Dogs and although it echoes his version of Fantastic Mr. Fox, that’s the film that really captured my imagination, that adventure made me fully appreciate his unique style and this one looks just as glorious.
Isle of Dogs first trailer screams of every specific set of skills that we associate with Wes but it doesn’t mean it’s not very welcome. This time around, the film tells us the story of Atari Kobayashi (Koyu Rankin) and the story of his love for his canine and, instead of telling you everything beforehand, you need to watch this one yourself:
There’s obviously an all-star voice cast that includes Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Yoko Ono, Scarlett Johansson, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Frances McDormand, Harvey Keitel, Ken Watanabe, Greta Gerwig, Liev Schreiber, Bryan Cranston and many, many, many more!
Isle of Dogs opens in the UK on 30 March 2018.
