Robert Eggers is producing visceral work, from The Witch to The Lighthouse, it’s clear his unique visions are in a world all of its own. Next up is The Northman, written by Eggers and Icelandic novelist Sjón Sigurdsson, it’s based in Iceland at the turn of 10th Century and is described as “an action-filled epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder.“
What’s clear from this trailer, and a host of images, is that we’re finally bothering to hit this historical era with some echelons of accuracy and a genuine look into the Vikings because, for starters, we all know the horns thing? Not a thing. But, anyway, The Northman also has an outstanding cast in the shape of Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Willem Dafoe.
