Now, I’ll admit, this isn’t something I expected to see in production but 20th Century Studios are set to begin a whole new saga for the ‘Apes’ world, with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and it’s starting production this month!

Directed by Wes Ball, and starring Owen Teague (It), Freya Allen (The Witcher) and Peter Macon (The Orville), Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes picks up many years after 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. The script comes from Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Patrick Aison (Prey).
Steve Asbell, President of 20th Century Studios, had this to say:
“’Planet of the Apes’ is one of the most iconic and storied science fiction franchises in film history, as well as being an indelible part of our studio’s legacy. With ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ we are privileged to continue the series’ tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema, and can’t wait to share Wes’ extraordinary vision for this new chapter with audiences.”
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is looking at a 2024 cinema release.
