Hazel Findlay is, quite simply, one of the world’s best climbers. Six-time British Junior Champion, Hazel left competitive climbing, at the age of just 16, to focus on rock climbing. Hazel went on to become the first British woman to climb one of the hardest grades in climbing, as well as free-climb Yosemite’s El Capitan four times. Which is incredible!
In a follow up to her 2019 theatre tour, The Climb Within, Hazel is now set to undertake her second theatre tour, The Walls Within, heading to 12 theatres across the country this September, presented by Speakers from the Edge, including Exeter’s Barnfield Theatre on 18 September

Fascinated by the mental challenges of climbing, every bit as much as the physical challenges, Hazel often focuses on the psychology of what drives her through the internal battles she’s faced in her career and how she’s overcome them; fear of failure, imposter syndrome, distraction and motivation.
In The Walls Within, Hazel delves into these universal commonalities we all face in our lives, using stories from her most difficult ascents and wild expeditions, such as her recent climbing adventures in Greenland with, arguably the most famous climber on the planet, Alex Honnold, to talk about the psychological ‘walls within’
The Walls Within is touring 12 theatres in September (full list just below) and will be showing at Exeter’s Barnfield Theatre on Monday, 18 September
