You can trust in Toho to offer us a proper Gojira experience, and today we’re not only re-sharing the epic first trailer for Godzilla Minus One, that comes to cinemas in Japan from 3 December, and to North America from 1 December, but also two new TV spots to really embrace the road from the King of the Monsters.
This is the first domestic Japanese gigantis film since the highly enjoyable Shin Godzilla in 2016, read my review here, and this time around the film tells the story of an already devastated postwar Japan facing a new threat in the form of Godzilla. With Monarch: Legacy of Monsters also on the way later this year, it’s going to be a good time if you’re a fellow fan of the franchise!
Take a watch:
It marks sixty-nine years since Godzilla first appeared on Japanese big screens, on 3 November 1954, and since then Gojira has stomped into over 35 films, and I’m more than excited for what’s to come from this one.
Written, Directed and VFX by Takashi Yamazaki, and starring Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, and Kuranosuke Sasaki, it feels like it’s time for Toho to take this forward, while endeavouring to keep that original intention.
