Written by Colby Day, and Directed by Johan Renck, who also directed the phenomenal Chernobyl, this trailer for Spaceman brings you a vision – and a story – I definitely wasn’t expecting and it’s very rewarding because of it.
Starring Adam Sandler, Carey Mulligan, Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin, with Isabella Rossellini and Paul Dano, the film follows Sandler’s Jakub, an astronaut who’s six months into a solitary research mission on the edge of the solar system – and I felt vibes of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar – asking the big questions of time, space, life and love.

Whilst in the endless echoes of space, Jakub realises the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns. Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka (Mulligan), he’s helped by a mysterious creature from the beginning of time he finds hiding in the bowels of his ship. Hanuš (voiced by Dano) works with Jakub to make sense of what went wrong before it is too late…
Based on the novel Spaceman of Bohemia, it comes to cinemas from 23 February and then onto Netflix from 1 March, here’s your trailer:
