Today we’ve got the first look at the BBC’s new crime drama The Jetty, from writer Cat Jones and producers Firebird Pictures, which stars Jenna Coleman in the lead role of Detective Ember Manning.

The 4-part series follows an investigation after a devastating fire tears through a holiday home in a Lancashire lake town. Detective Manning must then work out how it connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between a man in his twenties and two underage girls.
Described as ‘a coming-of-age story within a detective thriller’, The Jetty promises to ask big questions about sexual morality, identity and memory, in the places that #MeToo has left behind. Coleman, who I last saw in the excellently dark Klokkenluider, had this to say:
“Working with BBC and Firebird Pictures on bringing the complex and enigmatic character of Ember Manning to life has been an incredible experience. I can’t wait for everyone to meet this new heroine and to find out what’s lurking beneath the surface of The Jetty.”
Coleman stars alongside Archie Renaux, Laura Marcus, Bo Bragason, Amelia Bullmore, Ruby Stokes, Tom Glynn-Carney, Weruche Opia, Matthew McNulty, Ralph Ineson, David Ajala, Nina Barker-Francis, Miya Ocego, Elliot Cowan, Shannon Watson, Arthur Hughes, Dominic Coleman and Ruaridh Mollica – read more on that in our post here!
