It’s a very difficult balance to hit that Monty Python-esque silliness with a modern twist in comedy but this first trailer for Seize Them! leans towards something fun, more than feared, and it’s got a very impressive comedy cast as well!

Described as a comedy road movie set in the dark ages, as you do, the film follows Queen Dagan (played by Aimee Lou Wood), an egotistical (yet lonely) monarch, whose reign is toppled by Humble Joan (Nicola Coughlan) and the treacherous Leofwine (legend Jessica Hynes).

As a fugitive on the run, and a bounty on her head, the Queen must head out on a new quest to regain her throne with the assistance of Shulmay (Lolly Adefope) and Bobik (Nick Frost), a literal shit shoveler who dreams of a grander life… but what kind of Queen does she want to be?

Directed by Curtis Vowell, with a screenplay from Andy Riley, this looks like a silly and very British adventure – with swordfights – Seize Them! also stars James Acaster, Paul Kaye and John MacMillan, check out the trailer:
