One of my favourite comedians, writers and performers is Steve Martin. I grew up in the wonderfully weird wild and crazy world, even in the UK, thanks to the world of VHS and the likes of The Jerk, The Man With Two Brains, All Of Me, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Father of the Bride, Roxanne (which I know word-for-word), Parenthood, L.A. Story, and I could go on…
After the recent success of Only Murders in the Building, let alone Steve’s successful extra career as a musician, it’s great to see that this documentary, STEVE! (martin) a documentary in 2 pieces, will take us into his extraordinary story from two distinct points of view, with companion documentaries that feature never-before-seen footage and raw insights into Steve’s personal and professional trials and triumphs.

‘Then‘ will chronicles Martin’s early struggles and meteoric rise to revolutionize stand-up before walking away at 35, with ‘Now‘ focusing on the present day, with Steve Martin in the golden years of his career, retracing the transformation that led to happiness in his art and personal life.
Directed by Morgan Neville, who also brought us the excellent duo of 20 Feet from Stardom and Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, this is backed from A24 and Tremolo Productions, check out the trailer now, I’m very much looking forward:
