There’s quite the wealth of fictional stories focusing in on the concept of reality itself, AI gone rogue and lost identities right now – and art often reflects real life, more than some people realise, I’d think, and Apple TV+ have been at the forefront with outstanding shows such as Severance, Foundation, Invasion and Silo, just to name a selection.
Today, we’ve got the trailer for Sci-fi Dark Matter, starring Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi and Oakes Fegley, which is based on the book by Blake Crouch, who is involved as creator, executive producer, showrunner and writer alongside exec producers Matt Tolmach and David Manpearl.

It does look intriguing, with Edgerton very able to get into the depths of a conflicted character, and Connelly who revels in this type of role. As a brief overlook, Dark Matter is a story about the road not taken and follows Jason Dessen (Edgerton), a physicist, professor, and family man who — one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago — is abducted into an alternate version of his life, and wonder turns to nightmare when he tries to get back to his reality via the landscape labyrinth of lives he might have lived.
Watch the trailer, I don’t think you’ll need anymore as a teaser:
Dark Matter is a 9-episode Apple Original that premieres globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Wednesday 8 May, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through to 26 June.
