While this is just off the beaten track of our usual coverage, we’re fans of UK-based audio company Majority – and happy to review two excellent DAB Clock Radios that find a fine line perfectly between an old school bedside radio, or wherever you’d like to keep them, and also (very handy!) one can also be implemented as a wireless phone charger.

In recent times, it feels like you put your phone by your bedside and that’s everything covered but either you’re looking for a way to cut down on that mobile phone use, or you just used to love having a clock radio, then I’m going to run through my testing as both the Majority Knapton and the Majority Knapwell can offer you individual bonuses and benefits!
Majority Knapwell
First up, a look at the classic/retro design with the Majority Knapwell, which is also very much built for the 21st century. This lightweight clock radio has both DAB and DAB+ abilities, meaning you can easily tune into pretty much any digital radio station in the entire world by simply letting it self-tune when you first switch it on.
The decent sized 14cm LED display is backlit and beyond readable at variable distances, obviously you’re likely to be close anyway, and the best part? The entire screen is dimmable. This means it initially starts quite bright and you can basically turn it off or lower the level of the light of the screen. I use this regularly, as depending on what kind of sleeper you are, it’s quite easy to get dragged into the light of anything in my room at night.

Sound wise, and as well as that ability to tune into an almost endless selection of radio stations, it’s more than sufficient for the physical size. While I think you’re unlikely to be using the Knapwell as actual speakers for your music, you can actually connect via Bluetooth 5.3 and do that as well if it takes your fancy. Majority are easy to switch and change with so many of their products, to fit what fits their audience best.
In terms of the alarm itself, that hits a hefty 80Db, so if you’re a heavy sleeper then this should do the job! And if you’d like those extra 10 minutes before actually getting out of bed, then you’ve got the ever-reliable snooze button, which might be one of the greatest inventions of all-time. Oh, and there’s even one of those USB charging ports on the back, if you wanted to charge any of your digital devices.

Majority Knapton
So, the Majority Knapton has a lot of similarities to its sibling, the Majority Knapwell – and this is certainly in a positive way. I’d say it’s a bit smarter, and more useful if you’re after some good old/new wireless charging for your mobile phone device, should you have that option – and not all phones do yet, it’s worth mentioning. The Knapton has a 15W Qi wireless charging pad on the back and can charge your phone from nothing to 100% within 3-4 hours, or just top it up, whatever you need.
Essentially, the Knapton is a bit of an all-in-one for DAB+ radio, your clock radio with the dimmer option as above for the screen, and actually two alarm options to give you the routine that suits you best. Once again, whether you’re new to the clock radio game, or looking to revisit the ease of having it right there in your room, this suits technology people of all ages. It’s easy enough to just plug in and go, and once again connect to Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless music options, or whatever else you’d like to do.

The Radio gives you DAB+ or FM choices, the speakers offer top sound once again and overall I have to recommend this one if you’re looking for the wireless charging. In terms of comparison between the two, I think it’s down to whether you want that extra bonus charge ‘pad’ but as a general consensus, the Knapton and Knapwell once again put Majority at the forefront of keeping tech accessible, easy to use and MOST importantly, genuine top quality builds at affordable prices.
