So, despite loving TRON and TRON: Legacy, I wasn’t really sure where TRON: Ares was going to take us, and I can’t deny an inkling of the ‘unsure’ with a certain Mr Leto, who absolutely gives all – but always feels a little aloof in characters, which can make it difficult to lean into the story.
That being said, I’m always eager to be reconvinced and revaluate a thought on any actor I’m less partial to, and this first trailer sets up a really exciting idea – and something that looks super impressive, hoping they keep the blur of CGI to reality to The Grid in all its digital frontier glory.

I also forgot that this is technically now a trilogy, with this third instalment taking us back to 1982, 2010 and now 2025 – and that says something for the love for the world here, which isn’t necessarily always just about bringing back nostalgia. This time around, ‘Ares’ is a program that’s sent from that digital world into the real world, and then the boundaries of A.I. and all associated begin to blur….
Directed by Joachim Rønning, the films also has a VERY impressive cast led by Jared Leto, alongside Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, with Gillian Anderson and Jeff Bridges.
No going back now….
