Millions Hunt. One Runs. Everyone watches.

You might have heard this before but, quite often, the films being release reflect what society needs on the big screen and quite recently, there’s been an impressive increase in 80’s style action-thrillers and 1: I’m all for it and 2: this first trailer for Edgar Wright-directed The Running Man looks terrific!

From Paramount Pictures, and if you don’t know either the novel by Richard Bachman (Stephen King) or the 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Running Man is set in a near-future society, and it’s also the name of the top-rated show on television, where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to the public and each day bringing a greater cash reward.

With working class Ben Richards (the man of the moment Glen Powell) desperate to do anything to save his sick daughter, he’s convinced by the show’s producer Dan Killian (played by Josh Brolin) to enter the game. But even though Killian is just using him as more bait for his ratings, Richard’s instincts and grit turn him into a fan favourite—and a threat to the entire system….

Also starring William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson and Colman Domingo – This is a brilliantly explosive trailer, with more than a few Wright hallmarks, and then some, take a watch now:

The Running Man is out on 7 November
