Director David Leitch, who recently offered up the mad-capped escapism of Bullet Train, now brings together Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling for The Fall Guy, which is inspired by the original 1980s TV Series (which isn’t on my personal radar, so this is new to me!)
There’s a definite favouring of big-screen-pushing-the-boundaries of ridiculousness in action-comedy films right now, half inspired by the 80s vibe and maybe also a reflection of the world – where we don’t want too much realism given the state of *gestures wildly* everything.

Written by Drew Pearce, The Fall Guy stars Gosling as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, played by Blunt —goes missing.
While the film’s producer (played the already legendary Hannah Waddingham), tries to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) a secret from everyone, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces.. but even more danger is afoot!
Also starring Winston Duke and Stephanie Hsu, watch your trailer now:
