Starzplay aren’t quite as well known in the UK as some of the ‘big’ streaming services over here but they’ve been backing some top titles in the past year or so and, we’re pleased to say, it’s getting even better in January!

Into The X-Files but never seen Fringe? YOU’LL LOVE IT. Love all things Stephen King? Castle Rock is DEFINITELY your bag. Then there’s Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton‘s re-imagining of Four Weddings and a Funeral plus Doom Patrol, which is getting a lot of love out there – alongside the likes of Almost Famous, Fatal Attraction and the classic Harrison Ford-starrer Patriot Games.

Want to know a bit more now my over-excited intro is pretty much running to its conclusion? Take a closer look at Starzplay’s slate:

DOOM PATROL – Streaming Now

DOOM PATROL reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of Super Heroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele, Negative Man aka Larry Trainor, Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief. Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatised and downtrodden, the team found their purpose through The Chief, coming together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence. Called to action by Cyborg aka Vic Stone, the Doom Patrol – part support group, part Super Hero team – is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

Unable to police a world in which science has advanced beyond our wildest dreams — and nightmares — FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) seeks help from eccentric ‘fringe’ scientist Dr. Walter Bishop and his jack-of-all trades son, Peter. Under the direction of Special Agent Phillip Broyles and assisted by Agents Astrid Farnsworth, Charlie Francis and Lincoln Lee, the Fringe Team investigates unusual incidents that defy human logic and unimaginable events that threaten our very existence on a universal scale. Irrevocably linked to a parallel “other” universe by the machinations of a younger Walter Bishop trying to save the life of his son, Olivia and alternate-born Peter must bridge two universes while wrestling with questions of identity and destiny … and a multiverse threatened by the mysterious Observers. With the help of Nina Sharp, who runs Massive Dynamic, the omnipresent corporation founded by Bishop’s former lab partner, William Bell, the Fringe team imagines and tests the impossibilities while investigating unbelievable events, macabre crimes, and mystifying cases involving pyrokinesis, neuroscience, cryonics, genetic engineering, astral projection, and other fantastical theories. When the unimaginable happens, it’s their job to stop it.
