Like many, I’m a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch, and it’s felt like a while since we’ve seen him in something this different, even though he’s certainly always challenging himself as an actor, and loves diving into how our mind works. Today, we get a first look at the curious, intriguing trailer for The Electrical Life of Louis Wain – Out on Prime Video from 5 November.

Directed by Will Sharpe, the film stars Cumberbatch as forgotten British artist Louis Wain in the true story of a brilliant but troubled soul, whose fascination with the mysteries of the world is deepened when he meets the love of his life Emily, played by the excellent Claire Foy. There’s also an outstanding co-starring cast, have a watch now:

The Electrical Life of Louis Wain also stars Andrea Riseborough, Toby Jones, Sharon Rooney, Aimee Lou WoodHayley SquiresStacy MartinPhoebe NichollsAdeel Akhtar, Asim ChaudhryRichard AyoadeJulian Barratt and Sophia di Martino. It was also only recently announced that Taika WaititiNick Cave and Olivia Colman appear in the film, with Colman narrating.

From STUDIOCANAL, Film4, Shoebox, SunnyMarch and Amazon Studios, it’s released theatrically in the US on October 22, and on Prime Video on November 5, with STUDIOCANAL releasing the film in-cinemas across their territories – UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand early in 2022.
