Here’s an interesting little trailer for Alexander Payne‘s new film The Holdovers, written by David Hemingson, and you might know the director best for his previous films The Descendants and also Sideways, both tremendous human stories with a fine dark and light balance.

The first thing I thought was an echo of Dead Poets Society, and while the setting seems familiar in that sense, it’s definitely got a different overall vibe and I’d have to assume quite the different outcome. Starring Paul Giamatti, Dominic Sessa and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, with Carrie Preston, let the trailer below tell you the story and – slight digression – it’s even got a voiceover: are they coming back?!
