While I’m not completely sold on the title, Pain Hustlers is a little bit of everything and nothing, the trailer gives a lot more intrigue – with more than a hint of The Wolf of Wall Street but with a more serious, timely edge, as the excellent pairing of Emily Blunt and Chris Evans star in what’s called ‘a desperate story of American excess‘, which comes to Netflix from 27th October.

Based on the novel by Evan Hughes, Liza Drake (Blunt) is a blue-collar single mom who’d lost her job and not sure where to turn next. But, after a chance meeting with pharmaceutical rep Pete Brenner (Evans), the outcome of that puts her on in an economically better place, but with a dubious ethical path. Involved in a dangerous racketeering scheme with an unhinged boss Neel (Andy Garcia), plus the the worsening medical condition of daughter (Chloe Coleman), and a growing awareness of what she’s doing… she has to re-evaluate.
Directed by David Yates, and also starring Catherine O’Hara, Jay Duplass and Brian d’Arcy James, get a look here and let me know what you think!
