There’s never been more of a choice of titles and genres on TV, and across numerous streaming services, but every now and then we like to pick out a show we think you’ll enjoy watching and Counterpart, on Prime Video and StarzPlay now, which stars J.K. Simmons and Olivia Williams is absolutely one of those.

What can I expect?

Created by Justin Marks, Counterpart is an addictive 10-part espionage, reality-spanning sci-fi drama and J.K. Simmons is as glorious as he always is. He plays Howard Silk, an everyday man who works within a web of bureaucratic machinery at a Berlin-based United Nations spy agency.

After a perfectly innocuous day, and failed attempts at long-term promotion prospects, Howard discovers that his work place has safeguarded the secret of a crossing into a parallel dimension, and is thrown into a shadow world of intrigue, danger, and double cross… where the only man he can trust is his near-identical counterpart from this parallel world.

While some of these shows are done without subtly, and with a rather repetitive nature, we’ve witnessed some opening episodes and can honestly recommend a sci-fi show with intelligence and a fine cast that includes Olivia Williams, Harry Lloyd, Nicholas Pinnock, Nazanin Boniadi, Sara Serraiocco and Ulrich Thomsen.

That’s not all either, because it’s directed by the excellent Morten Tyldum, you’ll know him best for The Imitation Game and Jo Nesbo’s Headhunters.

How do I watch it in the UK?

Counterpart is coming to STARZPLAY, which is available exclusively via the Prime Video Channels in the UK, and will premiere on 28th September. Head here: www.amazon.co.uk/StarzPlay
