It’s nearly 2020 and so with the future abound, we can look forward to a whole of great new shows coming to Amazon Prime Video (Pick up your free 30-day trial here) and – to help you along the way – we’ve put together a list of those we think you should keep an eye out for. There’s some great TV on the way, from mysterious sleeper agents, to new American Gods, from Nazi hunters right through to all-new tales of modern living and love!

Are you ready to begin? Let’s make it so and head over to the highly anticipated Star Trek spin-off series…

Star Trek: Picard

The iconic Sir Patrick Stewart reprises his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, who he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. This all-new series looks fantastic (watch the first trailer here) and will follow the legendary Captain into the next chapter of his life. Set 20 years after his last appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis, the series finds him deeply affected by the death of Data (as depicted in Nemesis) as well as by the destruction of Romulus as referenced in the 2009 film Star Trek. Oh, and he’s got his vineyard!

Hunters

Hunters follows a diverse band of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City, The Hunters, discover that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. Exec produced by Jordan Peele, these eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans. Starring Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone – This one has a crazy trailer to watch!

Modern Love (Season 2, watch Season 1 here)

If you’re looking for a series that takes a smart twist on the usual romantic drama/comedies, I have to recommend Modern Love. This isn’t your usual insight, as each episode is inspired by a real-life personal feature from the New York Times column ‘Modern Love’. Season 2 is set to tell the tale of: An unlikely friendship. A lost love resurfaced. A marriage at its turning point. A date that might not have been a date. An unconventional new family.  – It’s a show we have to recommend, let us know if you’ll be streaming S2!

Truth Seekers

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost return! This time to the small-screen, Truth Seekers is a horror-comedy series about a team of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the UK, sharing their adventures on an online channel for all to see. As they stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers and abandoned hospitals with their array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos, their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, more terrifying and even deadly, as they begin to uncover a conspiracy that could bring about Armageddon for the entire human race….

While we’ve only seen a few shots, so far, from this upcoming escapism – Hoping for a lot of fun!

The Boys (Season 2, watch Season 1 here)

There’s been nothing quite like The Boys in the superhero world in recent years, maybe Deadpool in terms of dark comedy, and so for the uninitiated:

What happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good? It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven”, and their formidable Vought backing.

Absolutely original, starring Karl UrbanJack QuaidAntony Starr – based on the graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson – This is one to experience, for sure.

Treadstone

Jason Bourne is BACK. But, this time, on the small-screen! Treadstone follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions, and explore the origin story and present-day actions of Operation Treadstone, the infamous, covert CIA Black Ops programme that uses behaviour modification to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins…

Created by Tim Kring, there’s not a lot we know (yet) about this upcoming series but I feel like it could be a fun one to delve into. Starring Jeremy Irvine, Brian J. Smith, Michelle Forbes and Patrick Fugit, it airs from 10th January.

Rob Delaney: Jackie

Finally, how about a comedy relief? Rob Delaney is a man on form right now and this new Amazon Original show was recorded at the Hackney Empire in London. From there, he unpacks the horror and the joys of his life in the UK’s capital city: from swimming in tea, unearthing scammers, being a father and a husband, the monarchy, the rise of the sexbots… and the disappearance of his friend Jackie.
