As a spin-off from The Big Bang Theory, the genre of this teaser trailer for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe isn’t quite what I expected, and that’s in a hopeful, positive way!
Coming to HBO Max from 24th July, we’ll follow comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman), who needs to restore reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon.Â

Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). And, the series promises, that during the adventure we’ll meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from that Big Bang Theory world but, as the title implies, things don’t go well….
For me, there’s a big essence and edge of Doctor Who, which makes you wonder if HBO bid for it before the whole Disney sidequest, as it does look reasonably fun and spirals off in a way I wasn’t expecting.
Something to stream for enjoyable chaos? I’ll certainly give it a shot:

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television
It’s created, written, and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, and streams in the UK and Ireland on HBO Max from 24th July
