I definitely enjoy discovering an indie film that looks beautifully surprising and Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie fits that bracket easily!
Directed by Matt Johnson, who co-wrote with Jay McCarrol (who also does the music) and Jared Raab (who’s also the cinematographer), Canadian pair Johnson and McCarrol also star in this imaginative-looking adventure which was developed from their previous web and TV series.
In those setups, Johnson and McCarrol are fictionalised versions of themselves, and also in a group called Nirvanna the Band. For the film, they plan to book a show at the Rivoli but it goes horribly wrong, when Matt and Jay accidentally travel back to the year 2008…
What else do you need? Here’s that bonkers trailer!
Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie will be released in cinemas on Friday 3rd July
Previews from Wednesday 1st July!
