These new Majority D50X Bookshelf Speakers are exactly as the name suggests, meaning that these are comfortable sitting alongside your books or Blu-rays, and are fair value as another welcome addition to the affordability factor from UK-company Majority.

Coming in at only 2.8kg, and 13 x 15 x 18 cm, you can slot them in anywhere you need, and choose your favourite colour from black, pink, maroon, green or white to blend in and fit your furniture. Implementing 60W of sound between them, with dual active drivers and Carbon Fibre cones, which means a clear kick of music just when you need it. Those drivers indicate a very decent bass sound as well, and you can adjust those bass levels, as well as the treble, on the side of one of the speakers via the manual nobs, if your remote (included) isn’t giving you what you want.

Essentially the Carbon Fibre cones, which sit inside of the speakers, are slightly different to the previous Kevlar ones that Majority used and although stiffer than a paper cone, can usually offer a punchy bass, over a softer sound. The Carbon Fibre leans better into the most common use, so you can understand why it’s implemented to the mass market, and it’d be hard to disagree it’s a much higher performance to keep the overall cost down. There’s also the Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity option once again (up to 10 meters) and don’t forget this can connect to anything you have to play music through, so not just the Majority Auto itself (that I’ve reviewed here), but your phone and so forth. They also offer either USB or AUX playback, or you can utilise the optical and HDMI ARC input connections – or even a good old headphone jack, if you plug in to get your music via your record player.

In terms of setup, the right speaker holds your power socket plug-in, and there’s a speaker wire that you connect from the right to the left – these reach across a decent sized bookshelf, or easily behind a TV that’s an approx. 55” – as a rough idea of the visual space. They’re extremely easy to use straight out of the box, and like Majority’s previous wireless turntable to speaker process, once you’ve got both things switched on and ready to go, the D50X will ‘find’ each Majority turntable I’ve used, including the Auto, without an issue when you’re in the Bluetooth mode.

Overall, for a beginner or everyday use, you’d be happy with these, or their previous D40X, because they do the job you want and – importantly -they look sleek, stocky, and stylish. And yes, something can be all three of those things. The D50X keeps their product quality in a good, respectable place enabling a set of little speakers that genuinely give you impressive clarity and enough depth to enjoy and immerse within. Portable, easy to move and install, you could use them for music, films, or whatever else you need to. And because of the Bluetooth, without the hassle of having to worry about being close to the record player, or whatever device you’re choosing to stream your sounds through!

The Majority D50X are available now* for a gracious £69.95: https://amzn.to/4unenj9
