The outstanding score from Widow’s Bay, by David Fleming, has received a stunning vinyl boxset release from Mutant – and you’re going to need to get this!

Frankly, this new vinyl and CD release from Mutant (of which we’re also big fans) is better than Martha’s Vineyard, and once you see it, you’ll see why! If you’re new to this odd island, it’s all inspired by Apple Original series Widow’s Bay that did one of those epic things that is still possible, even in a mass-visual multi-platform world. It grew a fanbase out of sheer sharing the word.

Created and exec produced by Katie Dippold, and directed and executive produced by Hiro Murai, the series started as a “have you seen this?” before very quickly moving onto “it’s my favourite show, and you MUST watch it now” quicker than Matthew Rhys‘ Mayor Tom Loftis swimming to escape from the Sea Hag.

So, back at the end of May, I binged and savored Widow’s Bay, and followed it up quickly with a ‘must watch’ article (right here) because I needed to share the fun. It’s ridiculous and sublime, if you’re a fan of comedy-horror with an extra weird edge, then this show is definitely for you – but enough of this swooning preamble, unknowingly place your Patricia antlers on your head, and take a look at this quite wonderful Widow’s Bay – Apple Original Series Soundtrack – Deluxe Box Set, that you can pre-order right now directly from Mutant!

Fleming’s score, like the series itself, is a living, breathing entity that permeates every building and wide-open space in the town. A symphony of atmospheric synth lines and pads, dreamy strings, occasional terrifying stingers, breathy theremin-style wailing vocals, and melodies that blend together seamlessly. Finding that fine line between sheer horror, mischief, and wonder, always keeping a keen ear for melody and playfulness.
