Immersive audio production company Almost Tangible wins the Grand Trophy at the NYFRA!

We’re delighted to share the news that the innovative and original audio production team Almost Tangible, has been named Production Company of The Year by the New York Festivals Radio Awards, with their production of Macbeth receiving a Grand Trophy and 4 Gold Trophies for Best Digital Drama, Best Drama Podcast, Best Director and Best Sound – Congrats to all involved!

The creative platform was founded by entrepreneur and actress Charlotte Melén and she was there to receive the awards on the night. Almost Tangible have pioneered the latest technology in binaural sound recording offering hyper real audience experience and their take on Macbeth was inspired, recorded at Glamis Castle in Scotland, where Shakespeare set his iconic story, has had more than 50,000 downloads.

Thanks to smart phones, technological advances and a demand for entertainment with more connectivity, the rising popularity of audio isn’t surprising and this team want to do things differently by creating immersive, next- generation audio experiences with unforgettable stories that connect with theatre, film and podcast aficionados around the world. We’re on board. 

Recording on location with a full cast and crew, Almost Tangible has taken the traditional audio play or podcast to the next level while using the accessibility of the medium to reach new audiences. Working with the latest technology in 360 binaural sound recording, their production model is similar to the process of film-making in terms of attention to detail and creative resources.

Previous winners include BBC, Canadian Broadcasting Co., Guardian Australia, and TBI Media, and they’re set to announce more productions soon! Keep an eye out, or ear, and we’ll share the news as we get it.
