Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie-Turner Smith shine in trailer for Lena Waithe’s Queen and Slim

Knowing that Lena Waithe (who you may know from Netflix’s Master of None) had written the screenplay, alongside debutant director Melina Matsoukas, definitely peaked my interest for Queen & Slim, and this first trailer for the film coming to UK and Irish cinemas in January 2020 is definitely one to watch.

Starring Get Out‘s Daniel Kaluuya, with newcomer Jodie Turner-Smith, Queen & Slim undoubtedly has a Bonnie and Clyde/Thelma & Louise vibe going on.  But as you’ll tell from the trailer, this one feels important and timely as it’s set to be a ‘powerful, consciousness-raising love story that confronts the staggering human toll of racism and the life-shattering price of violence.’
