Today we’ve got the first look at Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy in Louis Wain, the story of British artist Wain, famous for his distinctive paintings of cats that inspired many across the globe. In some ways, this is the perfect team up for the internet, cats and Cumberbatch, that being said, this is also a biopic so it might not be the meme fodder some are hoping for!
Louis Wain is set to tell the extraordinary true story of a brilliant man inspired by both his love of the world and the love of his life Emily, played by Foy. Also confirmed for the cast are Andrea Riseborough (who I don’t think we’ve seen enough of recently), Toby Jones, Stacy Martin, Hayley Squires, Aimee Lou Wood, Adeel Akhtar, Julian Barratt and Asim Chaudhry.
Backed by STUDIOCANAL, Sunnymarch, Shoebox, Film4 and Amazon Studios, the film is directed by Will Sharpe and written by Sharpe with Simon Stephenson. Principal photography began last week on 19th August, shooting on location and in-studio in and just outside London until mid-October.
