The truly epic trailer for Godzilla Vs Kong is here, and it’s glorious!

One Will Fall.

That’s the big tagline folks for Godzilla Vs Kong, we’ve got a situation where we might possibly lose one of these icons of monsterverse cinema, but I honestly hope it’s neither! Despite this, and my huge Godzilla love, they appear to be setting Kong up with a kid-connection, which kinda feels like they’re making him the favourite… Warner Bros, don’t you remember everything Big G did for us?

But, there’s gotta be balance, right? I’ve enjoyed the new films, first there was Gareth Edward‘s excellent 2014 Godzilla, big on story and performances for me (and I enjoyed the human-level look), then we had 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, directed by Michael Dougherty, which was questionable in story but saw Gigantis take down extraterrestrial killer King Ghidorah. However, at the end of that film, Godzilla had gained a bit of Alpha Male status and a new gang of giant monster followers, so you wonder what affect that’s had on his ego and that might be reflected in this trailer. Or, let it be said, Mechagodzilla.

This HUGE trailer for Godzilla Vs Kong, this time by another thriller/horror director Adam Wingard, looks amazing. There’s no way around that. Epic battles, beautiful neon, crazy WTF is going on moments. I’m in. It’s currently due for a 26 March cinema release but I’d guess that might be shifted back a bit, depending on the next month or so in the UK but this has must-see-at-the-cinema written all over it.

Starring Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, with Kyle Chandler and Demián Bichir – I’ve put in the official synopsis just below because… let’s get on with the trailer:

Legends collide in Godzilla vs. Kong as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.

Godzilla Vs. Kong is from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, story by Terry Rossio and Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields. It opens on 26 March 2021.

    • Yeah, he’s bigger! In Skull Island they mention he’s still growing/only a youngster really, but unsure what they’ve done with Godzilla yet, although not everything is as it appears to be!

I wonder if our pair will actually be a team, I obviously have no idea, but there’s a lot more going on aside from an OUTSTANDING looking load of monster fighting, haha!

    • I’m not entirely sure he is, well… as it states in the trailer there’s ‘something’ going on to send him into a frenzy.

But, yeah, I’m a big fan of the legend and if you look closely, especially in the first 5 seconds (and on the computer screen behind a Scientist), there’s more at play here – won’t specifically spoil a possibility, but there’s subtle hints for sure!

It’d be difficult to hate either of the title two, I’m hoping there’s a way for both to survive!
