There’s thankfully often a place for a well-created life-affirming road movie, one that explores the trials and tribulations of the every day, while endeavouring to celebrate the human spirit – and 500 Miles certainly feels like it falls into that bracket.
Directed by Morgan Matthews, 500 Miles is written by Malcolm Williams, based on the book Charlie and Me: 421 Miles from Home by Mark Lowery, and it comes to Irish cinemas from 15th May, following up with a UK release from 26 June.

While fighting parents (Clare Dunne, Michael Socha) tear their hair out with worry, runaways Finn (Roman Griffin Davis) and younger brother Charlie (Dexter Sol Ansell) embark on an adventure from Yorkshire, over land and sea, to the west coast of Ireland, in an effort to track down their estranged Grandfather, played by the legendary Bill Nighy.
