If we’d met a few months ago, I would tell you I’ve never watched Downton Abbey but – let’s clear the air in the style of the Julian Fellowes-created masterclass in drama – I was mistaken, and I apologise for my lack of understanding in the matter. Why have things changed? You might be asking, well, I’ve literally spent the previous two months watching Downton Abbey from the start and it feels like I’ve always had it my life, and the same applies to the characters!
Today, and although I haven’t seen the first one yet, we excitedly share the first look at Downton Abbey: A New Era that comes to UK and Irish cinemas on 18th March 2022!
It’s been a couple of years since their last outing, and while wonderfully the original principal cast have return for a second film, there are also the new additions of Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West.
The screenplay is written by Downton creator and Academy-Award winner with Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning Gareth Neame and Emmy Award-winning Liz Trubridge producing with Fellowes. BAFTA and Emmy nominated Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) is directing.
