We were a big fan of McAvoy’s film, with Nick giving it a 4-star review here, as we follow the improbably true story, the film follows two Scottish lads from Dundee, Gavin (Séamus McLean Ross) and Billy (Samuel Bottomley), as they devise an audacious scheme to con the music industry and achieve their dream. They pretend to be established Californian rap duo Silibil N’ Brains, bagging a record deal and appearing on MTV but, as fame beckons and the lies pile up, their friendship is put to the test.

CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN’ stars Séamus McLean Ross (Rebus), Samuel Bottomley (How to Have Sex), Lucy Halliday (Blue Jean) and Rebekah Murrell (One Day), alongside McAvoy himself and featuring James Corden.

Written by Elaine Gracie and Archie Thomson, CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN’ is produced by Danny Page of Homefront Productions and Michael Mendelsohn of Patriot Pictures, alongside Paul Aniello of Tartan Bridge and Simon Kay. The film is produced with funding from The National Lottery through Screen Scotland and Mendelsohn’s Union Patriot Capital affiliate is financing the film production.
