Rejoice! Prime Video announce American Gods season 2 launch date!

If you know us here at Critical Popcorn, then you’ll know we’ve been loving Neil Gaiman’s American Gods on Prime Video as a remarkable, inventive, exciting, surprising TV show that took Gaiman’s source material and expanded it beyond the book and into something even bigger. With that in mind, we’re very happy to announced that the launch date for season 2 of American Gods is 11 March 2019, and new episodes will be available weekly exclusively for Prime members.

It’ll be an eight episode series available exclusively for Prime members in more than 200 countries and territories, excluding the U.S., where you can find it on Starz. Of course, the major players all return with Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday, American Gods is a one-hour drama adapted from Gaiman’s best-selling novel about a war brewing between Old Gods and New Gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.

In Season Two, the battle between Old Gods and New Gods continues to brew as we join Mr. Wednesday just a few short hours after his declaration of war and the epic showdown that ensued at Easter’s party. While Mr. World (Crispin Glover) plans revenge for Wednesday’s attack, Mr. Wednesday continues his quest to pitch the case for war to the Old Gods with Shadow, Laura (Emily Browning) and Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber) in tow. When things don’t go as planned after an encounter at the House on the Rock, both Old and New Gods, as well as those they meet along the way, find themselves on quests across America — all destined in some way for Cairo, Illinois…

American Gods, Season 2, will also star Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Bruce Langley as Tech Boy, Mousa Kraish as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi as Salim, and Demore Barnes as Mr. Ibis. Guest stars include Cloris Leachman as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare as Czernobog, and joining Season Two are Sakina Jaffrey as Mama-Ji, Dean Winters as Mr. Town, Devery Jacobs as Sam Black Crow and Kahyun Kim as New Media.
