After the news that Donnie Darko is returning for a short run in UK cinemas this December, we’re even more delighted to announce that Tim Burton‘s The Nightmare Before Christmas will also settle in for a special 3D event in December.
Walt Disney Studios’ stop-motion classic will be screening for special one-day event on 7 December across Cineworld Cinemas nationwide in 3D. There are also follow-up ‘Movies for Juniors’ screenings that will then take place in 2D from 17 December, and at selected independent cinemas throughout the Christmas season.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is the wonderfully unique and gothic story of the skeleton who stole Christmas from the imagination of Burton. Originating during the filmmaker’s tenure at Disney in the 80s, the macabre magic of its fairytale setting was eventually realised through the distinctive beauty if stop-motion animation. It also became the first film of its kind to be released by a major studio, and the first to be converted to 3D. Not bad really.
