I wouldn’t say that Stalin was an expected route for Armando Iannucci to take on after the likes of In the Thick of It, Veep and In The Loop, but it’s also not an excessively unusual political arena for the satirical king of comedy, especially when you consider the reality that has followed his ‘supposed-to-be-somewhat-ironic’ shows.
Writer/Director Iannucci takes on the internal political landscape of 1950’s Soviet Russia in The Death of Stalin, where we witness his team of ministers fighting for control, following Stalin’s collapse…in his now-classic dark comedy style. The trailer offers everything we’d expect from the man in charge but fear not those people who have problems with subtitles because it’s all in English, with an absolutely grand cast that includes Steve Buscemi, Simon Russell Beale, Paddy Considine, Rupert Friend, Jason Isaacs, Michael Palin, Andrea Riseborough and Jeffrey Tambor.
Watch it now:
The Death of Stalin opens in the UK on 20 October – One to definitely look out for!
