Overlord has sprung up out of nowhere, a classic JJ Abrams trick who produces this one, and it’s an absolute stormer of a first trailer from newcomer director Julius Avery.
Written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, The Hole) and Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games), it feels like they’ve gone for a huge mash-up of ideas but it looks pretty intense at the same time. Overlord is clearly giving off the body shock horror vibe but also action, mystery and some top-drawer crazy shit going off everywhere and you know what? Yeah, you know what. I’m on board for this one!
Here’s the bit that amused me the most, the only synopsis we’ve got so far is that it’s ‘the story of two American soldiers behind enemy lines on D Day’, which is true but you might want to watch to see it’s a LOT more than that as well:
