This is spectacular news! It has just been confirmed that Amazon Prime Video have picked up American Gods for a third season, this greatness is based on the award-winning novel by Neil Gaiman and it’ll return with Charles “Chic” Eglee joining the #GodSquad as showrunner.
Best known for his work on Hemlock Grove, The Walking Dead, and Dexter, Eglee had this to say:
“I’m thrilled American Gods has been renewed for a third season, and even more thrilled that I’m getting to work on it with Chic Eglee,” said Neil Gaiman. “Chic is the best partner-in-crime. We’ve been working for weeks now on the shape of the season and I’m delighted that he gets to carry the American Gods torch on to glory. Thank you to Fremantle, Starz and Amazon for having faith in the series, to Bryan, Michael and Jesse for bringing it this far, to all the cast and crew, and most of all to the viewers. It’s their love of the characters that took us to this point, and will take us on to the next chapter.”
Starring Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday, American Gods tells the story of a war brewing between Old Gods and New Gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Season Two finds the battle between Old Gods and New Gods moving inexorably towards crisis point as their destinies collide with those of men. In this strange new world, faith requires terrible sacrifice.
Brad Beale, Vice President of Worldwide Licensing for Prime Video, added:
“American Gods is stunning entertainment and our customers across the globe are loving it. With season two just kicking off, we’re thrilled that we can officially announce for our customers and fans of Neil Gaiman that another season of the series they love will be coming to Prime Video.”
