I’m very much looking forward to, and quite intrigued by, the upcoming new Star Trek series that’s focusing on Sir Patrick Stewart‘s iconic Jean-Luc Picard, and it has been announced that under a multi-year agreement with CBS, each episode will be available exclusively on Prime Video within 24 hours of its U.S. premiere. Hoorah!
The series features Stewart reprising his role as the venerable Picard for the first time in 16 years, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: Next Generation (surely the finest series so far), and is set to follow the character into next chapter of his life.
With this, they’ve also confirmed more co-stars, which includes Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Evan Evagora, and Michelle Hurd.

Alex Kurtzman will exec produce, and it’s produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Kurtzman, Michael Chabon (John Carter), Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), James Duff (The Closer), Stewart, Heather Kadin (Salvation), Rod Roddenberry (Earth: Final Conflict) and Trevor Roth (Star Trek: Discover) will serve as executive producers and Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) will serve as co-executive producer and Kirsten Beyer (Star Trek: Discovery) serving as supervising producer.
There’s no specific TX date yet, but we’ll bring you that as we hear it!
