New Scream film confirms title, wrap shots and 2022 release date!

I’ve been a huge fan of the Scream franchise since Wes Craven‘s 1996 film took us all by storm. In truth, it actually changed my entire perception of horror, something I’d struggled with up-to-that point, and remains in all my all-time Top 10 to this day.

The Scream films have always had a lot of fan-based love, even that iffy third one, which has kept them ticking over for 24 years now, and now that love has fallen into a relaunched franchise and the directors involved were inspired by Craven’s original, so I’ve got a lot of hope for this.

You’ll know directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett because they gave us the excellent Ready or Not, and their passion confirmed the return of Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette to the iconic films, with a screenplay from James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

Now, if you fancy a little *POSSIBLE SPOILER DISCUSSION* ponder on why they’ve returned? Well, our theory is that we might only see the legends for a short while, especially if they four previous films are anything to go by…. but I guess we’ll see! Anyway, with Kevin Williamson on board and a whole new cast that includes Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Sonia Ammar, and Jasmin Savoy Brown, I think we’ve got a lot to look forward to in January 2022. Now, here’s more from Kevin himself:

Scream is confirmed for a January 2022 release from Paramount and Spyglass.
