Dry Cleaning have been doing the single and EP route around the musical indie world for a year or two now, and this debut album is highly anticipated from the alt post-punk, and I’m very excited to see what they’ve got to bring! Signed to 4AD only last year, the band have today announced that New Long Leg will be released on 2 April and you can definitely pre-order your favoured version now, we recommend finding it via your local indie record store: https://drycleaning.ffm.to/newlongleg.opr
Dry Cleaning, based in South London, consist of Nick Buxton (drums), Tom Dowse (guitar), Lewis Maynard (bass) and Florence Shaw (vocals) and album New Long Leg is a 10-track long-player, which includes new single Strong Feelings and last year’s superb single Scratchcard Lanyard, and was recorded over two weeks last summer at the legendary Rockfield Studios with producer John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding). Vocalist Shaw said about the album title:
“the title is ambiguous; a new long leg could be an expensive present or a growth or a table repair.”
That quote already fits the idea of the band, absolutely. But that’s not all, there’s also a new single in the shape of Strong Feelings, which is a love song (of sorts), and Shaw added (and I love this):
“it’s about secretly being in love with someone who doesn’t know it, and Brexit’s disruptive role in romantic relationships.”
Jolly good
