As a kid of the 80s and 90s, I’m obviously a huge admirer of pretty much everything Spielberg. As well as that, it’s J.J. Abrams work, alongside his film production company Bad Robot, that have been one of my favourites of the last decade. With that in mind, I’m very excited (and a little shocked time wise) to welcome in the 10th Anniversary of J.J’s excellent Super 8!
UPDATE: With the 4K UHD out today, here’s our review!
Coming to 4K UHD and Blu-ray on 24th May from Paramount Home Entertainment, Super 8 is a genuine heartfelt homage to classic 70s/80s films from the years gone by, and also a celebration of loving and making films as kids, based on J.J’s own love for film, alongside cinematographer and friend Larry Fong. Super 8 really struck a chord with me back in 2011 and remains one of my cult classic favourites. A steady blend of finding personal strength in adversity, tough truths and an Alien creature (designed by Neville Page) just trying to get home, you can see why the Spielberg connections are there and so did Steven, as he produces with Bryan Burk.
Originally released on June 10, 2011, this version is newly remastered for this 4K Ultra HD release, the critically acclaimed film stars Joel Courtney, Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, Riley Griffiths, Gabriel Basso, Noah Emmerich and even a motion-captured Bruce Greenwood – The 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray release includes more than two hours of previously released bonus content as detailed below, and you can pre-order now!
