Now, I’d heard the odd rumour about this series, but I don’t know too much to spoil it – for you, or for myself – but Disney+ has confirmed season one of critically-acclaimed original series The Bear will launch in the UK and Ireland on 5 October, with all eight episodes available, and I’ll be tuning in!
The Bear follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a young chef from the fine dining world, who goes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop – The Original Beef of Chicagoland – after a death in his family. In a different world to what he’s used to, Carmy must balance the realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother’s suicide.

The Bear is about food, family, the insanity of the grind, the beauty of Sense of Urgency and the steep slippery downsides… and in addition to White, this 30 minute dramedy series co-stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson and Matty Matheson.
Created by Christopher Storer (Ramy, Eighth Grade), it has been renewed for a second season already, so this isn’t one you get into and never see again, thankfully!
Just finished watching it on HULU (in the US) and I think it originally was on FX. For anyone who has ever worked in food service, it will be that much better. It’s an excellent show with an excellent sense of timing in that there are no rushes in telling the story. I am very geeked to know there is another season on the horizon.
