Great to hear and confirm that the excellent Jodie Comer, both an Emmy and BAFTA winner, has been cast in The Chain as Rachel; a new HBO Original limited series based on the book of the same name by Adrian McKinty.

McKinty’s novel won Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year in 2020, and the series has been written, exec produced, and will be showrun by Damon Lindelof. The pilot story is also by Lindelof, along with Carly Wray and Breannah Gibson, with Lindelof and Wray writing the pilot script.

Comer’s Rachel is a suburban mum, who must consider the unthinkable when her daughter is kidnapped because to get her child back, she must kidnap another child even after paying a ransom, i.e. the plot clue is in the title! It received critical acclaim, from both fans and reviewers, upon it’s 2019 release and does sound like a story that could transfers thrillingly to the screen.

HBO Original limited series The Chain has Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer as executive producers for Media Res, the co-studio behind the series and author McKinty also serves as co-executive producer.
