There’s no doubt this retrospective trailer for Tom Cruise‘s career is packed with a mountain of absolute classic movies, but it’s a strange way to launch a teaser for a new film, especially after we’d already had a teaser that didn’t reveal that much either not too long ago…

In case you didn’t know, Cruise has been working with Alejandro G. Iñárritu for Digger, a film that follows “the most powerful man in the world” who embarks on “a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s saviour before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.”
As well as that, the first poster pushes the tagline “a comedy of catastrophic proportions“, and while everything so far is hiding his face a little, I can’t work out if that’s purposeful or fear from the production, as there clearly seems to be something going on there, are we finally going to discover what happened to Cruise’s masked David Aames in Vanilla Sky after all..?
Probably not.
But, moving on, Iñárritu can create an epic story and while the teaser at the end of this certainly feels quite Yorgos Lanthimos, I’m very willing to see what’s been created and a full trailer is due on 13th July.
Also starring Riz Ahmed, Aetheria Angel, John Goodman, Emma D’Arcy, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, and Michael Stuhlbarg – here’s your fresh proper look at Digger, after a quick celebration of outstanding 40-year career:
