I think that somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind my favourite franchise might just be… Alien and (almost) all that goes with it. Ridley Scott‘s seminal 1979 masterpiece helped changed my entire perception over what both horror and sci-fi can be and achieve within two hours of absolute suspense and intrigue.
While the original sequels did lose their way somewhat, I felt the mystery returned in prequel Prometheus and even more importantly for me, the excitement of the unknown. Over the past few years, I’ve started to cut out watching every trailers for new films I’m looking forward to and instead concentrate on the initial teasers and snippets of images that don’t give everything away when you finally sit down for the cinema release.
