White Gold is a curious animal as this new BBC series delves into the world of double-glazed salesmen. You wouldn’t immediately think of this as a prime spot for possible comedy but watching this first teaser trailer, they’ve picked an in-favour era where people wanted to believe in a lot of things and – quite truthfully – thicker windows were definitely on the list of must-haves.

Set in Essex in 1983, the series is about ‘dodgy shenanigans, scams and petty rivalries – alongside free-flowing drugs, cash and sex’ and promises to take us ‘inside the inner-workings’ of a double-glazing showroom, led by Vincent Swan (Ed Westwick) and his team that includes Fitzpatrick (James Buckley), and Lavender (Joe Thomas).

What’s clear from the trailer is that the soundtrack will play a part with the likes of classic tunes from New Order, Rod Stewart, Hall and Oates and Ian Dury, so White Gold could fit perfectly into this moment when the 80s are finding a lot of love…. you can also read our Episode 1 and 2 review here:

White Gold will air on BBC Two later this month and the full series will be available on BBC iPlayer. The DVD is set to released on 3rd July.
