Jumanji: The Next Level and Welcome to the Jungle Boxset

There’s double trouble for the Jumanji gamers in these action-packed adventures that are full of welcome escapism. Ghostbusters 1 and 2 Boxset

It’s hard to ever shake the glorious silliness and adventure of both Ghostbusters films. While these two I loved as a kid, I think they continue to live up to expectation, especially if you’re willing to escape into the world of ghosts and sharp comedy. This set is a special collector’s edition in Blu-ray or 4K UHD, in a remastered HD and sound for both, with all-new and never-seen-before special features!

Spider-Man: Far from Home

After the heart-breaking events of Avengers: Endgame, as well as the reflective joy, Spider-Man: Far from Home kept the game running and is full of surprises. A lot of this is down to Tom Holland’s excellent Spidey, and this time around he’s on a European vacation with Ned, MJ and his school. But, of course, while Peter Parker is hoping to have a break from being a superhero, things start to kick off after he teams up with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio. This was the first Spidey film to hit $1bn at the Box Office and it’s easy to understand why!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Oh my word, this is one of the finest Spidey films that’s been, right up there with all the best, and it’s animated but in a completely unique, original way that will have you coming back for more all the time. Its ground-breaking visuals introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, alongside the unlimited possibilities of the Spider-Verse and – take note – you wonder if this film is a clever way to soften us up for future Sony and MCU movies. Where anything is possible if you want to wear the mask…

Bad Boys Collection Boxset

Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey are back, and while they’re not the original buddy cops, they certainly changed the scene with Bad Boys I and II. Starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, this 3-film set gives us everything from the out of control, trash-talking friends who are upholding the law in whatever explosive way they can. Always a lot of fun, this is one for the adults!

Vin Diesel is always a strong lead when it comes to action heroes, and he’s at it once again with Bloodshot. Based on the bestselling comic book, this time he stars as a soldier recently killed in action and then brought back as a superhero with an unstoppable army of nanotech in his veins, with abilities including instant healing and strength.

While in the past Venom has struggled to get his time on the big-screen, Tom Hardy brings all the good stuff in this violent and fun, finding a good balance for our anti-hero Eddie Brock. While Eddie is initially a reported, after an incident with an alien symbiote from space, he’s taken over and turned into an equally vengeful and entertaining badass. Venom is a huge favourite of mine, and this is a great start (plus the awesome Riz Ahmed) to what’s hopefully a longer life for Venom, with even less holding back next time out.

Little Women

Director Greta Gerwig’s excellent adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s seminal novel is an absolute must-watch this Christmas. While it can be watched at any time of year, this would be appreciated by all the family and stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep. It’s absolutely glorious.
