Some of my favourite film moments are simply discovering a movie trailer I didn’t know I was looking for. This teaser trailer for Hope, from South Korean director Na Hong-jin, who you might know for the haunting The Wailing (back in 2016), is an absolute wealth of monster-intrigue, with a hint of A Quiet Place alongside the original Cloverfield, plus a mix of other good sci-fi and thriller epics.

I personally have enough to go on from this trailer, until it’s release this Autumn, but here’s a little synopsis and, yes, the trailer just below!

“In the remote South Korea village of Hope Harbor, Police chief Bum-seok (Hwang Jung- min) and officer Sung-ae (Hoyeon) are called to find a mysterious creature that has wreaked havoc on the village. In the nearby forest, a coterie of hunters, including Sung- ki (Zo In-Sung) set out to track the beast and find themselves hunted instead. But all is not as it seems, and perceptions can be misleading. What begins as ignorance plants the seed of disaster, escalating through human conflict into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.”

Hope played at Cannes, and is backed by Neon, PlusM and Forged Films, we’ll bring you more as we hear it

It’s touted for an Autumn 2026 release
