If you prefer your movie trailers full of mystery and giving you just enough to tease, but not enough to spoil, I think this first look at the intriguing The Last House, directed by Louis Leterrier, hits the spot!

Written by Matthew Robinson, the film follows a family of four who are literally sealed inside their house with no escape, as a looming threat keeps them trapped. In this trailer, we see Jason, played by Wagner Moura, realising there’s no way out and while at first it’s only a few days, it’s not long before it turns into weeks, and then years for the family.

Greta Lee plays his partner Ann, and they have no ideas as to why this is happening, nor can they explain it to their children, Ruth and Graham. Because of the time shift, the kids are initially played by Riley Chung and Noah Alexander Sosnowski, with Emma Ho and Gabriel Barbosa taking on their older versions later on, as the family must work together to survive.

It’s interesting to hear that half of the film was shot on 35mm, and practical effects have been utilised, as it should be really, so have a watch:

The Last House comes to Netflix on 7 August
