I’ve never hidden my admiration for Bad Robot as a production company, and the team of talented folk working in and around it, so Castle Rock has captured my interest instantly that’s mainly because they’ve given one of those perfect teaser trailers; One that shows a whole world of possibility but doesn’t force anything obvious at you, a ‘mystery box’, if you will.

Created by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason, plus exec produced by J.J. Abrams, Castle Rock is based on the world(s) around Stephen King‘s fictional Maine town and it’s featured in his novels including The Dead Zone, Doctor Sleep and even The Body, which is the short story from which Stand By Me was inspired by. I know it’s difficult to tell from a teaser how good an entire season might be but Hulu have been smart recently and were to thank for the adaptation of the Emmy-winning The Handmaid’s Tale starring Elisabeth Moss.

Castle Rock also has an impressive cast including Sissy Spacek, Melanie Lynskey, André Holland, Jane Levy, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Glenn and Lost-alumni Terry O’Quinn. Given all this info, and the exciting fact that the series will take Stephen King characters and entwine characters and themes from his fictional town, I can’t wait to find out when it starts!
