Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal star in first trailer for Paul Dano’s ‘Wildlife’

I’m a huge fan of everyone involved with this project and so while my initial thoughts are probably quite biased, it really does look like an intense, impressive directorial debut from Paul Dano, that he’s co-written with the also excellent Zoe Kazan, with Wildlife.

Focusing on 14-year-old Joe Brinson (Ed Oxenbould), the only child of Jeanette (Carey Mulligan) and Jerry (Jake Gyllenhaal), in a small town in 1960s Montana, who is forced into the role of an adult after his father leaves to join the cause of taking on a forest fire close to the Canadian border. Joe is the centre in witnessing his mother’s struggle as she tries to keep her head above water. Watch the trailer now:

This is Paul Dano’s debut as a filmmaker and — along with co-writer Zoe Kazan — adapts Richard Ford’s novel of the same name, we’ll be looking out for it upon its release, will you? Let us know in the comments below!

Wildlife comes to UK cinemas from 9 November.
